I admit I never really was a Fall Out Boy fan before, but I think I might need to flip the switch! (I did like Patrick Stump's "Soul Punk" solo record, though). After what feels like a century (hah!) long hiatus, they're back with a new album and a fresh new single "Centuries". The track is little more pop oriented than their usual sound and makes clever use of the "Tom's Diner" sample by Suzanne Vega. You can also tell Patrick feels a lot more comfortable with his voice and he's using it to its full extent. (that range!) Usually, it takes me quite a while to get into Fall Out Boy songs because they always seemed kind of weird to me, but this one totally knocks it out of the park! UPDATE : I now have the official video and it's really great. Set in Roman times, the boys are taken captive as gladiators and need to find a way to escape. How very Spartacus-y! Watch below. |
