OneRepublic's "Native" LP may not be the best selling album of the year, but the record just keeps sparking great singles. "Love Runs Out" is still my jam and now the sixth (!) single has been officially released. "I Lived" is a soaring poprock anthem (consider it the uptempo male version of Beyoncé's "I Was Here") with a superemotional video! The clip tells the story of Bryan Warnecke, a teenager diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. It may seem like a heavy, tough subject to talk about, but the video focuses mostly on the good things in Bryan's life. Because even though he has this disease that affects his lungs, he's a talented cyclist and a goalie with his local hockeyteam. So to all of you out there who are in a similar situation : nothing is impossible! Watch the inspirational video below. |

I mentioned before that One Republic's "Love Runs Out" reminded me a bit of Kanye West's "Love Lockdown". Not that it's a bad thing, but you know, people like bands that try to stay original. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big One Republic fan, but since Ryan Tedder is sooo talented, I expected a little more creativity on his part for this song. But I guess he put al his creative and crazy ideas into the music video! The clip is really sticking to the theme of their "Native" record as we see Tedder playing the piano in the desert next to and elderly lady that, according to some rumours, is actually his real mother! Furthermore, the rest of it is pretty wacky and intense, but somehow it seems to all make sense in way. Don't ask me how, but it does! :p Judge for yourself by watching the video below. In Belgium, we're still Counting Stars, but overseas One Republic is already moving on to the next one! The single "Love Runs Out" was released today (a new track of their album "Native"'s re-release) and I kind of had a déjà vu with this one. Something I'm not used to hearing from Ryan Tedder! Oddly enough, the song strongly resembles Adele's "Rumour Has It" (I'll let that one slide, since Tedder co-wrote and produced it) and Kanye West's "Love Lockdown". If you listen carefully, the stomping beat really resembles "Rumour" and the way the verses and the chorus are sung is "Love Lockdown 2.0". I'm not saying it's a bad song, not at all, but I wouldn't be surprised if Tedder gets hit with a lawsuit from Kanye West. What do you guys think? Am I right or is this plain nonsense?
