Doing a cover is always risky as an artist, especially if you're just starting out. It's easy to completely ruin songs that have become classics over the years, but making a cover your own is the hard part. And that's where Pia Mia did it right! I have already written about her a couple of times and now the 18-year old has proven that my gut was right on the money. She originally became famous by doing covers on Youtube, but this one is exceptionally well done. The Guam born songstress has tackled one of my favourite classics of all time : "Fill Me In" by Craig David. (I recently blogged about it in a Throwback Thursday post, check it out here) She didn't do this alone though, she received some help by teen heartthrob Austin Mahone and this combo works like a charm. The cover sounds nothing like the original, but showcases that Pia Mia is maturing more and more when it comes to her music. Both vocals are on point and the production is superslick. Yes, major kudos to her, because this is one killer cover. Craig David would love this, I'm sure! Listen below. |

Justin Bieber may be this close to getting deported, but luckily he has already found his successor in new teen heartthrob Austin Mahone. I really liked his breakout single "What About Love" (which is oddly enough not included on his new mini-LP The Secret), a perfect popsong infused with some hiphop and R&B. And to further tease the release of "The Secret", 18 year-old Mahone has released a new promo single called "Til I Found You" and it's pure pop perfection! Produced by Swedish golden boy RedOne, the jam is pretty much irresistible! It's got those slick retro beats, and a powerful chorus that will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. This track reminds me a lot of N'Sync and The Backstreet Boys in their heyday, absolutely amazing! It just cries for a "Bye Bye Bye" like choreography and video! Do you guys agree? Listen to the catchy single below. |
