La Roux's "Trouble In Paradise" album has delivered some banging tunes, but so far no Elly Jackson featured clip was to be found on the worldwide webb. Until now! And to add to the surprise, it's for a track that wasn't even released yet! "Kiss And Not Tell" is more of that discofunk smoothness that is to be found on the rest of the record. The clip itself is a nodd to those tacky '80s sex infomercials with Elly acting as the sultry telephone operator. The video is an impressive collection of vintage phones that just oozes nostalgia. (that hamburger phone!) There's an extra catch, though! If you dial the phone number that flashes across the screen, you're connected to a hotline where you can listen to the song. Nice touch, Elly. Well, played! Watch below. |

Do you guys remember that British girl with the giant red mohawk and her huge hit "Bulletproof"? Yep, you've guessed it: Elly Jackson aka La Roux is back from a noticeably long period of absence. Her latest big success dates back to "In It For The Kill", a song that's already 5 years old! So now La Roux has returned and how! Her usual electro/synthpop style has made way for a much softer use of said synths, telling by her new song "Let Me Down Gently". The track is the first single of her new album "Trouble In Paradise" that drops July 7th and oh my, what a track it is! It comes in at a whopping 5 minutes and 40 seconds long and it takes the full 2 minutes for it to really burst open with an 80's like sound. Elly's soft, almost ethereal vocals is all we hear throughout these first 2 minutes and it's kind of a welcome change, I think. It has a very Eurythmics-y feel to it and you must admit, Elly has that touch of Annie Lennox in her, now doesn't she? :) This is one way to make a comeback! It's new and inventive, unlike something else I've heard in a long time. It might take me another couple of plays to really really dig it, although I like her upbeat songs better. But don't worry, I'm not writing her off just yet! What do you guys think? Is this a triomphant return for La Roux? Listen to the audio below and let me know in the comment section. UPDATE : the music video came just as quick as the track was released. The clip is fairly simply as we see Elly crooning in a dark room and seeing her run through a misty meadow just as the beat kicks in. Great video for a great song. Watch it below! |
