Katy Perry's "Prism" has done pretty well, having three singles that ranked really high in the charts ("Roar", "Unconditionally" and "Dark Horse"), but her last single "Birthday" didn't spark that much of a buzz as the previous ones, despite the very entertaining video. So the pressure is on for the fifth single! And the lucky track this time is "This Is How We Do", a song about partying but not in a "Last Friday Night" kind of way. Katy's going the gangsta route with this one, using slang that doesn't really suit her. ("straight stuntin'", really?) The song itself is fun and the chorus is really catchy, but for some reason Katy's not really convincing me with this gimmick. UPDATE : There's a music video now too! It's an eye popping clip full of colour, swooshing through different eras and hairstyles: from the 60's to the 80's and back again. Also very reminiscent of different painters like Mondriaan. And did my eyes deceive me or was there an actual twerking ice cream cone in there? :-O |

You can always count on Katy Perry to bring the fun: whether it's dyeing her hair a slimey green or spraying whipped cream out of her boobs, nothing is too much for this California girl! Katy also knows how to throw one hell of a party (remember the Last Friday Night video?), so she decided to release "Birthday" as her new single. And what better way to sing about birthdays, than by baking a cake, right? Bring out your inner Martha Stewart by watching Katy's delicious lyric video! And trust me, the cakes featured in the video look sooooo good! There's cupcakes, disco balls, a cake covered in M&M's, a Rubik's Cube and SPRINKLES! Even Hello Kitty has her own cake! The only thing missing is 50 Cent making a cameo, singing about how he wants to take me to Katy's Candy Shop :p Watch the yummy video below! Now excuse me while I go and stuff myself with chocolate. |
