So I did get a little excited when I heard Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent, was working on a new album called "Animal Ambition". He already released a video for the track "Pilot" but knowing 50, there's a lot more coming! I knew his track "Smoke" featuring Trey Songz had already been leaked online, but now he has actually released a video for it.
I giggled after the first play since both 50 and Songz are noticeably absent from their own video. Instead, the lead character is a sexy lady in a skintight latex catsuit, showing off her best ASSets (some fierce competition for Nicki Minaj's derriere, if you ask me) and fighting off a couple of bad guys. Tiny spoiler alert : the video's ending is quite surprising! ;)
I'm no advocate for popping Molly and all that, but this song definitely gets me going!
Mapei is one of my latest musical discoveries and I'm really liking what I'm hearing so far! She's a 29-year old born in Rhode Island, but raised in Sweden, so no wonder she has musical talent galore! I think she has a truly refreshing sound compared to the current R&B and hiphop landscape. She originally started out as a rapper, but discovered her true talent was singing. Thank God, because I love her soulful voice and not to mention her amazing afro!
This track "Don't Wait" has a soulful yet exotic vibe to it, through the combination of the finger snaps with the Brazilian percussion in the background. All in all, a great song, that deserves waaaay more attention!
I'm no stranger to the genre, but I must admit I took me quite a while before I appreciated it, instead of labelling the whole thing as total noise. I like the more commercial dubstep stuff, but when push comes to shove I'll leave the hardcore material to the pro's.
But sometimes, I'm really hooked on a dubstep song from the getgo. And often it's half-shaven DJ Skrillex's drops that make this happen. This new track "Ragga Bomb", from his new LP "Recess", is no exception. It's built up in Skrillex's signature style, with heavy beats and drops. The accompanying video takes us to the slums of Jamaica, where people gather in the streets to... DANCE THEIR ASSES OFF!!!
This video has some mind blowing choreography with a lot of twerking, booty shaking and those typical African style moves. Ow, and there are light sabers involved.
